Considered, close to home
Interiorem celebrates the art of considered living. We partner with independent Melbourne makers to bring you objects that honour craftsmanship, paired with a curated marketplace for selected vintage furniture.
Interiorem started with a simple frustration: it was easier to find handmade furniture from overseas than it was to find the studio two suburbs over. Melbourne has always had a quiet, prolific maker culture — ceramicists, furniture makers, textile and lighting designers working out of laneway studios and converted warehouses across Fitzroy, Collingwood, Brunswick and beyond. Most of it never made it past a weekend market stall.
We built Interiorem to change that — a small online store for considered, small-batch homewares; a journal on the art of living with intention; and a growing directory of the independent Melbourne studios behind it all. Every product on Interiorem links back to the person who made it.
Alongside that new work sits a curated marketplace for selected vintage furniture. The two belong together: a piece is chosen the same way whether it was made last month or fifty years ago — for how it was put together, and for how it will wear.
We also help makers find a second life for well-loved pieces. If you have furniture or homewares you'd like to sell on consignment, we offer free in-store and at-home assessments — get in touch to arrange one.
